Glasgow is Scotland’s biggest and boldest city, with a big and bold reputation to match. Today’s Glasgow is best known for its architecture and culture, a must-visit tourist destination thanks to its status as European City of Culture and host to the Commonwealth Games. A far cry from its dark and industrial days where life was tough, and the city streets even tougher.

Loved for its incredible architecture, there’s no better way to hear the true tales of Glasgow through the ages than on a walking tour of this vibrant city. Don your comfortable walking shoes and weatherproof jacket, and let’s go on an adventure.

Tour Details

Our Glasgow’s Beating Heart walking tour starts in central Glasgow – wherever is most easy for you and your group. During the tour we’ll meander the streets and take in the sights and stories as we move through wide streets, and narrow lanes.

As we walk along, we’ll stop several times on the way, taking in some of Glasgow’s best known visitor destinations, as well as some of the city’s best kept secrets.

Glasgow Cathedral

Re-built in the 12th century, Glasgow Cathedral is the only cathedral in mainland Scotland that was not destroyed by the Reformation in the 16th century.

The Merchant City

The maze of streets around The Merchant City were home to the wealthy traders who stored tobacco, cotton and tea to process and sell on to Europe. The area has Glasgow’s oldest street, and Scotland’s first fast-food outlet, and remains a thriving merchant hub to this day. But what secrets are the streets holding on to? Let’s find out.

Glasgow Green

This lush, green park is the city’s oldest public park. In past centuries people hung their washing out to dry here, a much needed solution in Glasgow’s overcrowded industrial area. It was also home to the city’s first public meetings. The space continues to be of extreme importance to the city’s population, hosting special events such as the annual World Pipe Band Championships.
